It’s Gabriel’s turn to join the “Superwho Animation” party!
In the rough plot outline that’s floating around in my brain, he shows up when Sam, the Doctor and Rory are trying to find out what happened to Dean, Amy and Jimmy. Yup.
I tried to change Sam’s face along the way, and ended up hating it. I nearly scrapped this entire picture, but I liked Gabe lounging on the Impala too much to let it go. So lesson learned - don’t mess with the bitchface.
Sometimes I just get the irresistible urge to jump right into my favorite part of a picture.
Obviously the solution to my problem was bitchface… which was the way my original rough went, so that’s probably why I was unhappy with it later. Much better, already. Now to clean up (because apparently last night “clean up” meant “I’ll just ignore this mess here”) and move along.
I was starting to stray too far into the “I am unhappy with everything that’s not Gabriel” territory in this picture, so I wrapped up the line art quickly and did the initial background rough and texturing (which I think I’m gonna change), then did the flat coloring on the figures, chose a texture for the whole image and did a quick edit test to get a feel for how it was looking. Despite the overlaying texture being a bit strong in this pic, I think I can safely say that this one’s gonna turn out all right.
Tomorrow I’ll finish the bg, shade the figures, polish up and should be done.
Morning after edit: Ok I hate this again. Time to fix.
Back to the next Superwho pic. Lines are about mmm… 90% done. Sam’s face looks pretty awful resized like this. It’ll improve with the colors, I promise. I’ll probably tweak a few things anyway.
I debated painting Sexy and Baby in as part of the background, but they are characters too gosh darnit so they get their own line art.
Started blocking in the TARDIS and Impala some more. Also working on Sam’s “please don’t let it be who I think it is behind me” look.
So who knew that Pepsi max guy would be so fun to draw? This is going to be a blast.
Anyway, bedtime.
So I actually worked on a few different things today, and this is the doodle-wip you’re gettin’ today.
It’s time to break out my sketchup TARDIS and Impala models - it’s “Superwho animation” time again. As if it wasn’t bad enough that Dean, Jimmy and Amy are missing, Gabriel decides to show up to “help” Sam and the Doctor.
I’ll be working on this off and on for a bit.
