Castiel started wearing a bowtie because the Doctor said bowties were cool and Cas really really wants to be cool and impress Dean because dayum Dean is cool.
So Cas shows up and Dean’s all ~oblivious~ at first, but then he looks up and trails off on whatever he was saying and he’s all “… Cas. What is that?”
